On 16th January 2023, Infinity Boat Club members were invited to the premier of ‘The Boys in the Boat’ movie premier. The event was covered by the BBC and personal messages were sent from two of the film’s stars – Joel Edgerton and Callum Turner.

During the height of the Great Depression, members of the rowing team at the University of Washington are thrust into the spotlight as they compete for gold at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.

‘The Boys in the Boat’, which premiered on Teeside on 16th January 2024, is the true story of that great achievement.

Directed by George Clooney, the nine young men on the University of Washington team were all from working-class families which contributed to their underdog status. They were the sons of loggers, farmers, shipyard workers, and manual Labourers. They were never expected to beat the elite teams from the East Coast and Britain.

The film reflects many of the Infinity Boat Club’s goals and is a truly inspirational piece of film-making.
