Infinity Boat Club's J16 boys' quad continued their excellent run of form with an impressive second-place finish at the GB France J16 Trials at Holme Pierrepont.
The crew of Sam Murphy, Harry Murphy, Daniel Gowler and Jacob Haxton faced some of the country's fastest J16 crews in exceptionally difficult conditions. Strong winds and rough water throughout the day resulted in the racing programme being shortened, with the trials ultimately decided by a single race.
With only one opportunity to perform, the Infinity crew delivered when it mattered most. Producing a composed and determined race, they crossed the finish line in second place, just 1.4 seconds behind the winners.
The narrow margin underlined the quality of the racing and the standard of the crew's performance. Despite the challenging conditions, the boys maintained their focus, adapted well to the testing water and demonstrated the technical ability and resilience that have characterised their season.
The result follows the crew's bronze medal at the National Schools' Regatta just a week earlier, capping an exceptional period for the quartet. Together, the two performances establish the crew among the leading J16 sculling crews in the country and reflect the progress they have made throughout the season.
Infinity Boat Club would also like to recognise the dedication of the coaching team—Ellie, James and Cathy—as well as the continued support of parents and volunteers. Ellie and James accompanied the crew to the trials, helping ensure the boys were fully prepared despite the difficult conditions and the uncertainty surrounding the day's racing.
Congratulations to Sam, Harry, Daniel and Jacob on another outstanding performance and on representing Infinity Boat Club with distinction.
