On the 25th – 27th September, Jacob, Dan and Scarlett headed to Peterborough for the first of their in-person camps as part of their Diploma in Sporting Excellence.
Across the three days they took part in a wide range of activities, from video analysis with the DiSE mentors to team building sessions, nutrition education and managing life as a student athlete. This is the first group of Infinity Boat Club athletes to be selected onto the DiSE programme, and the club are so proud of the recognition they're being given for their hard work.
Read what they thought of the camp below!
"The DiSE camp was a great opportunity to not only get some good coaching from a range of different coaches and allowed me to improve on the technical changes we had learnt through the winter so far.
It also allowed me to build on my ability to manage stress whether that be academic pressure or stress from tests/races.
Finally it allowed me to mix with a wide range of people from all over the country and give me an insight on the different mix of training happening in rowing." — Dan
"The DiSE camp was a great opportunity for me to meet new people from different clubs around the country and being able to make new friendships. It was also a good opportunity to be able to get video analysis and being able to get coaching of different coaches and helping me to be able to focus on technical changes that I can improve on.
I was also able to be able to get different education session on good nutrition and about stress management, and being able to develop my skills in managing stress whether that will be academic stress or stress before a race. I also found it beneficial to be able to have session about mobilisation and S&C.
Overall the DiSE camp was a great opportunity as it helped me to develop my technical focuses and develop my knowledge of different elements that you come across in rowing." — Scarlett
