Infinity BC J16 Squad Makes Strong Impact at Junior Inter-Regional Regatta
Infinity Boat Club enjoyed a hugely successful Junior Inter-Regional Regatta (JIRR) campaign, with all three of the club's J16 crews winning their events at JIRR trials before going on to achieve impressive results at the national finals.
The successful trials campaign saw Infinity represented by the J16 boys' quad, J16 women's double and J16 boys' four, with each crew securing victory and earning the opportunity to represent their region at JIRR.
The J16 boys' quad of Sam Murphy, Harry Murphy, Daniel Gowler and Jacob Haxton continued their outstanding season with a dominant performance at trials. Having already achieved a bronze medal at National Schools' Regatta and a second-place finish at the GB France Trials, the crew once again demonstrated their quality by winning their trial and progressing to JIRR as one of the leading crews.
The J16 women's double of Scarlett Wilko and Scarlett White also produced an excellent performance to win their trial and secure selection, while the J16 boys' four of Oscar, Ahmed, Rhys and Hector completed a clean sweep for Infinity by also taking victory in their event.
At JIRR itself, Infinity's crews competed against the strongest junior athletes from across the country. The women's double of Scarlett Wilko and Scarlett White produced a determined performance, finishing 10th in the time trial before progressing to the B Final, where they improved their position to finish 6th.
The J16 boys' four, racing with a changed lineup of Simon and Alexander alongside Rhys and Hector, showed impressive resilience throughout the event. They placed 7th in the time trial before delivering a strong performance in the B Final to finish 2nd.
The standout result came from the J16 boys' quad of Sam Murphy, Harry Murphy, Daniel Gowler and Jacob Haxton. The crew produced the fastest time in the time trial, winning the opening stage and securing a place in the A Final. In the final, they continued their excellent form to finish 2nd, making them the second-fastest J16 quad at JIRR overall.
The results capped off an exceptional period for Infinity's J16 squad, demonstrating the depth of talent within the club and the progress made throughout the season. With every crew winning at trials and all three going on to perform strongly at the national event, the J16 athletes represented Infinity Boat Club with pride and distinction.
Congratulations to Scarlett Wilko, Scarlett White, Sam Murphy, Harry Murphy, Daniel Gowler, Jacob Haxton, Rhys, Hector, Simon and Alexander on their fantastic achievements at JIRR.
